League of Venice

The league of Venice is a coalition Italy anti-Frenchwoman gathering the République of Venice, the Duché of Milan, the Papal States, the Saint Germanic Roman Empire, and the Couronne of Aragon.

She is concluded, in Venice, on March 31st 1495 during the 1 {{Re}} war of Italy in spite of the diplomatic efforts of Philippe de Commines. The purpose of handing-over into force partial of the Italic league of 1454, it is officially the fight against the Turks, the defense of Italy and the safeguarding of the states concerned.

In 1495, it allows, by its attitude threatening and in spite of a defeat with the Bataille of Fornoue, to encourage Charles VIII to give up Naples and to return to France.

It is dislocated after the signature of the truce of Alcala de Henares between France, the Spain and the Saint Worsens Roman Germanic, the November 24th 1497.
