League Christian international esperantist
The Christian League international esperantist (in Esperanto: Kristana Esperantista Ligo Internacia or KELI ) was founded in 1911 during the Universal Congrès of Esperanto to Antwerp. It gathers Chrétiens of various tendencies, mainly of the churches resulting from the Réforme. Its now two-monthly review, Dia Regno had appeared earlier, in 1908, when Paul Hübner had the certainty which 5 people at least would subscribe. Now it is used as bond between members and interested in 48 countries and pertaining to many confessions, since adventist and Quakers until the Lutherans, calvinists, orthodoxe Anglicans and .
As of the beginning it was necessary to get a basic literature. In 1912 appeared the New Testament and in 1926 the Bible with the Old Testament, translated by Zamenhof (published not by a private edition but by the British and Foreign Biblical Company). Thus it is regularly available in all the biblical bookstores of the world. An edition including/understanding the deuterocannonic pounds (translated by the Dutch Gertit Berveling) is appeared in 2003. Since 1971 the KELI has an official collection of canticles Adoru Kantante with 262 canticles, generally of traditional, coming from many countries and languages, with a music with four parts, one beautiful book of a professional quality. Later, in the congresses, one used a more modest collection of aspect much, Tero kaj Ĉielo kantu with 161 numbers, rather modern. A liturgical collection oecumenical, Adoru , including/understanding texts, prayers and canticles is appeared in June 2001.
After the last war the KELI started to organize annual conventions, with a program prepared with care, work, study, distraction, meets with the contact and host country with the local churches. More and more, because of a good contact with IKUE, the union esperantist roman catholic (in Esperanto: Internacia Katolika Unuiĝo Esperantista ), annual conventions are often common, therefore oecumenical. The first time, it was in 1968 with Limburg year der Lahn. They attract between 90 and 200 participants, not necessarily members of the KELI or IKUE. At the time of the Universal Congresses of Esperanto, IKUE and the KELI endeavor to propose religious services, if possible oecumenical. Often, they are the moments of the program of the week of the most attended congresses. As of the beginning the KELI supported the action near the blind men of the Dutch Jacques Tuinder, known under the initials E3 , or now EvidEntE . Currently the assistance concentrates on the Albania, but does not forget other poles of misery for reason of badly-clairvoyance.
The action of the KELI is turned in two directions: to inform on the Esperanto among the Christian Churches or groups, and to inform on the Christianity in the mediums esperantists.
