The league Awami is an political organization of founded socialist obedience in 1949 in order to organize the protest Bengali (then Eastern Pakistan before the scission of 1971) against the domination of the pendjabis on all the levels of the political power and military. The principal claim of then is the autonomy of the oriental party of Pakistan. Its program is radicalized in 1966 when Mujibur Rahman, leader of the Awami league, envisages the scission of the 2 oriental parties and Western of the Pakistan. A severe repression organized by the Pakistani general Ayub Khan follows. At the time of free elections in 1970, the League gains a triumph but Yahya Khan, president of the moment, refuses the verdict of the ballot boxes and sends troops to repress the Bengali separatists. In 1971, the Bangladesh (in the past Eastern Pakistan) helped by India d' Indira Gandhi, becomes independent and is directed by the league Awami, first national political clout. It is chaired since 1981 by Sheikh Hasina Wajed, girl of Mujibur Rahman.
