Le Monde of the river

Le Monde of the river (original title: To Your Scattered Bodies Go ) is a novel of Science-fiction of the American writer Philip Jose Farmer published in 1971. It is broken up into 30 sections, relatively short, written with the third nobody by an omniscient narrator.

This novel is the first shutter of the cycle entitled the River of eternity and precedes the the fabulous Boat .

Summary

The hero, Sir Richard Francis Burton, however deceased, lands naked on a grass beach of an unknown place in an unknown time. A great river runs in a valley framed by mountains: the River. Ressuscity in its 25 year old glabrous body but, it meets its similar quickly which underwent the same fate that and teaches him that they come all from different times and are more or less famous like Sam Clemens (true name of Mark Twain). It quickly sets up a group of which he becomes the chief: among-them a very useful Néanderthalien for the combat and the primitive survival which lets predict that all the human ones are present in this strange world since the first pithécanthrope. The tribe includes/understands also extraterrestrial, Monat, come at the 20th century and which apparently at summer obliged to destroy the Ground. They then assist with the rebirth of the clans then ages of the World of the River; new conflicts appear, for the women or food even if there exist turns in the mushroom shape which distributes all the conveniences to the ghosts in personal boxes. With the wire of the weeks, the group of Burton succeeds in building a boat in the idea to go up the River with its source and to discover the goal of this " Résurrection" total. But the River seems to be infinite…
