Layne Staley

Layne Thomas Staley (August 22nd 1967 - Ca April 5th 2002), born with Kirkland, Washington, E. - U., was the singer of the grunge group/metal of Seattle, Alice in Chains, as well as group Mad Season.

Biography

At the 12 years age, Staley learns the battery and plays in several groups glams, but aspires to being a singer. It then exchanged its battery for a microphone. It met Jerry Cantrell in 1987, and trained Alice In Chains. Glam in the beginning, Alice In Chains transfered with the Grunge/metal. With beginning of the year 90, Alice In Chains became one of the headlights groups of the scene grunge of Seattle with Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam and Mudhoney.

Facelift , their first album, leaves in 1990. It will meet a certain success grace in particular to the hits Man in the box and We die Young . It is from there that Staley became accro with the Héroïne.
Heroin will be in addition the central theme of their following album, Dirt , left in 1992. The album is sold to several million specimens. In 1994, leaves then an acoustic semi mini-LP, Jar Off Flies (coupled in Europe with the other acoustic mini-LP, Sap ). The rounds are almost impossible, Staley trying, in vain, to detoxicate itself. In 1995, leaves the album Alice In Chains with a short round in first part of KIS. This same year, Staley records Above , album of the supergroupe Mad Season.

In 1996, they carry out the MTV Unplugged , which will be their last performance.

The April 20th 2002, two weeks after its death, Staley is found died at his place of an overdose of " Speedball" , mortal mixture of Heroin and Cocaine. It was 34 years old.
