Couches is a common French, located in the department of Saône-et-Loire and the area Burgundy.

Cultural events

Festival of the Food: medieval festival which is held every twenty years . The first modern edition took place in 1888. The next one will be held in August 2008. Page devoted to the myth of the Food.

Jazz with Layers: festival which unrolls each summer at the beginning of July. In 2006, the event will celebrate its 20th birthday. Site of Jazz to Layers.

Castle of Layers

Personalities related to the commune

Marguerite of Burgundy (1248-1308), queen of France, was repudiated for adultery by the king Louis X Hutin . Collected by its family, it would have finished her days with Couches in the greatest secrecy. It is in any case the thesis defended by Couchois. The castle built in XIe bears the name of " today; castle of Marguerite de Bourgogne".
