Laxative

A laxative is a drug accelerating the Intestinal transit time, softening the saddles. One uses the laxatives to fight the Constipation.

They can be absorptive orally or by rectal way (Lavements, Suppositoire S or microphone-rectal injections).

Laxatives of ballast (fibers)

They include/understand the food Fibers or of Mucilage S. They make the saddles denser, bulkier and make them retain more water, which supports the natural Péristaltisme and thus their progression. They accelerate the transit colic into 2 to 3 jours.
Examples: seeds of Psyllium or Ispaghul, gum of Sterculia.

Lubricants

  • the Lubrifiant S (the such frozen paraffin oil ) are absorbed orally. They facilitate (modestly) the progression of the saddles in the intestine, by effect of slip, and reduce hydrous absorption. They act into 6 to 8 a.m. The undesirable effects are anal irritations and seepages. False routes with pneumonia were announced.

Osmotic laxatives

Not absorptive, they retain water and the électolytes in the colonist. They act into 1 to 2 days. The principal undesirable effects are abdominal pains and intestinal distensions.

  • osmotic saline the
    • Salts of sodium and potassium, phosphates. A strong concentration of the latter increases the presence of water in the colonist and thus the hydration of the saddles. The principal disadvantage of this class of laxatives is a passage partial of salt in blood thus a risk of increase in the blood pressure and, with strong amount, a risk of edema.

Laxatives of contact (stimulative)

The laxatives of contact increase the intestinal motility by various mechanisms. They expose to sometimes serious undesirable effects, like the colites, and with medicamentous interactions.

Natural and synthetic anthraquinonic derivatives

  • Senna and derived (for example Sennoside S)

Derived from diphenylmethane

  • Bisacodyl
  • Bisoxatine
  • Picosulfate of sodium

Laxatives of rectal use

They start a reflex exonerator quickly. The repeated use causes anal irritations.
  • glycerin by rectal way
  • the Rectal injection S crest gates
These treatments can in addition facilitate the manual extraction of a Fécalome when they are used beforehand.
