Lawrence Block

Lawrence Block is an American writer born the June 24th 1938 with Buffalo (New York).

He wrote many detective novels, with mainly two recurring characters: the private detective Matt Scudder and the bookseller/burglar Bernie Rhodenbarr.

Matt Scudder

Police officer with New York in the first novels, after having accidentally killed a young girl, it resigns and becomes private detective. In the first episodes, like much of characters of whodunnits, he drinks much, but he adheres quickly to the Alcoholics anonymouses and tries to live without alcohol.

Bookseller of day, Bernie is burglar the night. Contrary to Matt Scudder, there remains the same merry young man in all the accounts. It is accompanied in its adventures by Carolyn Kaiser, toiletteuse for dog of its state and lesbian too often esseulée.
