- In ecology, a lawn is a vegetable Formation natural made of wild plant species herbaceous low height, primarily of the Graminées.
The lawns are mainly in the Montagne S at an altitude higher than that of the forest stage, or with the immediate vicinity of the sea, just above the rocks of the Estran or the Falaise S (lawns aérohalines). In a case as in the other, they are maintained naturally because they are not in competition with the woody species which test difficulties of pushing in altitude or under the direct influence of the wind and salt.
