Law on the historical memory

The law on the historical memory ( Ley of Memoria Histórica , or Ley of extensión of derechos has los afectados por Guerra Civil will dictadura it there : law of extension of the rights to the victims of the civil war and the dictatorship) is a law of the socialist government of Jose Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, aiming at recognizing the victims of the Franquisme. The project, very discussed shares and others, was approved in the Council of Ministers on July 28th, 2006 and adopted by the deputies on October 31st, 2007.

The law finds its origins in creation by decree, on September 10th, 2004, of an inter-ministerial committee charged to study the situation of the victims of the civil war and Francoism and to work for their " moral rehabilitation and juridique". Indeed, if it still remains, in 2006, of the streets in the name of Franco in Spain, the victims of the dictatorship were still not recognized, condition given to the aforementioned " Spanish Democratic transition " who extended from 1976 to 1983. The law also proposes to make '' valle of los Caídos '' a mémoriel place and teaching in the honor of all the Spaniards.
