Law of the double vote (1820)
The law of the double vote was a promulgated law the June 12th 1820 to reinforce the representativeness of the richest quarter of the electorate (vote censitaire).
It was adopted following the assassination of the duke of Berry, with an aim of weakening the opinion known as liberal.
With this law, the whole of the French voters (paying to a Taxable quota annual superior with 300 FR.) approximately 96.000 citizens, votes initially for a park of 258 deputies.
Then, the quarter the richest vote one second time for an additional park of 172 additional Appointed S.
