Law of Jurin
The law of Jurin gives the Height to which a Liquide assembles in a capillary tube .
This law is expressed by:
- H is the height of the liquid;
- γ is the surface Tension liquid;
- θ is the Angle contact between the liquid and the wall of the tube;
- ρ is the Density liquid;
- R is the ray tube;
- G is the acceleration of the Pesanteur.
The conditions of validity are the following ones: it is necessary that the diameter of the tube is small in front of the capillary Length, which is worth typically two millimetres for water at the temperature and environmental pressure. If the tube is held oblique then the law of Jurin gives the vertical height (not the height measured along the tube).
