Law of December 16th, 1964 relating to the mode and the distribution of water and the fight against
The law of December 16th, 1964 relating to the mode and the distribution of water and the fight against their pollution constitutes, with the Loi on the water of January 3rd, 1992, one of the principal legislative texts governing, in France, the management of the Water resources. It tries to fight against the Pollution of water and to ensure the supply drinking water populations while making it possible to provide to agriculture and industry the water which they need. It thus relates to the whole of the water resources, except for the mineral Water.
The law leads to creation in Metropolitan France of six administrative units associated with the large catchment areas. Each one of these districts is managed by an advisory organization, the Comité of basin, and an executive organization, the Agence of water.
