Law Waldeck-Rousseau

The law Waldeck-Rousseau , of the name of the liberal Minister of Interior Department Pierre Waldeck-Rousseau which made it vote, is a voted French Loi the March 21st 1884. It is the first to authorize the Syndicat S in France, by abrogeant the Loi the Hatter. This text however aims all the professional bodies and not only wage earners associations.

This law is however only one first step towards trade-union freedom, from the very strict framing which it fixes for the creation and the organization of the trade unions. Moreover, the trade unions remain prohibited in the Public office. It makes following the laws of the Second Empire of 1864 removing the offense of coalition.
