The law Neuwirth was voted by the assembly the December 28th 1967. Proposed by the deputy Lucien Neuwirth, it repeals the law of the July 31st 1920 which prohibited any contraception. It from now on is authorized but is not refunded by the Social security. The Avortement remains prohibits to him until the adoption of the Loi Veil in 1975 (Simone Veil).

It will have to be waited on December 4th, 1974 so that contraception is truly liberalized and refunded by the Social security.

Today, in France, contraception is regulated by the articles L 5134, R 5134 and R2311-13 of the Public health code.
