Law 15 of football: returned of key

The article Law 15 of football: returned of key states the law 15 of football and presents various considerations relative to this law. Law 15 refers to the re-entry of key.

With the Football, the laws of football is the name given to the rules of the game of football. They are decided on the level of the International Football Association Board (IFAB); the last version goes back to 2000.

The re-entry of key is one of the procedures of the resumption of play. A goal cannot be marked directly on re-entry of key.

The re-entry of key is granted

  • when the balloon entirely crossed the touchline, whether it is with ground or in the air,

  • at the place where the balloon crossed the touchline, or opposite the referee of fields.

  • with the opposing team of the player who touched in the last the balloon.

Execution

At the time of the re-entry of key, the executant must:

  • to deal with the ground,

  • to have at least partially the two feet behind the touchline is on the tape of ground external with this line,

  • to hold the balloon of the two hands,

  • to launch the balloon since the nape of the neck and over the head without taking off feet of the ground.

The executant should not play the balloon again before this one was not touched by another player.

The balloon is concerned as of the moment when it penetrated on the playing field.

Infringement/Sanction

Handing-over concerned carried out by a player of field:

If the balloon is concerned and that the executant touches the balloon one second time before this one was not touched by another player:

  • a frankly indirect blow is granted to the opposing team which must be carried out at the place where the fault was made.

If the balloon is concerned and that the executant seizes the balloon of the hands deliberately before this one was not touched by another player:

  • a frankly direct blow is granted to the opposing team which must be carried out at the place where the fault was made.

  • a kick of repair is dictated if the fault were made in the penalty area of the executant.

Handing-over concerned carried out by the goalkeeper:

If the balloon is concerned and that the goalkeeper touches (otherwise than hands) the balloon one second time before this one was not touched by another player:

  • a frankly indirect blow is granted to the opposing team, which must be carried out at the place where the fault was made.

If the balloon is concerned and that the goalkeeper seizes the balloon of the hands deliberately before this one was not touched by another player:

  • a frankly direct blow is granted to the opposing team when the fault was made apart from the penalty area of the goalkeeper. This frankly direct blow must be carried out at the place where the fault was made.

  • a frankly indirect blow is granted to the opposing team when the fault was made in the penalty area of the goalkeeper. This frankly indirect blow must be carried out at the place where the fault was made.

If the executant of the re-entry of key is importuned or obstructed by a player of the opposing team:

  • the player of the opposing team is sanctioned of a warning (yellow paperboard) for antisportif behavior.

For any other infringement with this Law:

  • the re-entry of key is started again by a player of the opposing team.

Remark : the off-side does not exist at the time of a re-entry of key

French specificity

All the adversaries must be with at least 2 meters of the place of the re-entry of key and this until the balloon is concerned.
If an unfavourable player is not remote, the referee or the official referee assisting will have to intervene to invite this player to place themselves at a distance of 2 meters of the place of the re-entry of key. In the event of difficulty or from repetition, the faulty one will receive a warning “to delay the resumption of the play”.
When a player carries out a re-entry of key in spite of the presence of an adversary located at a distance lower than 2 meters of the place of the re-entry of key, the referee will not intervene immediately. If the team which profited from the re-entry in key draws an advantage, it will let the play be held. In the contrary case, it will stop the play and will give the re-entry of key to be remade with the same team. In the event of difficulty or from repetition, the faulty one will receive a warning “to delay the resumption of the play”.
