Lavoixia macrocarpa

Lavoixia macrocarpa is a species of Arecaceae (Palm trees). It is the only species described at present of the Lavoixia .

Habitat

Lavoixia macrocarpa is endemic with the New Caledonia. It has a habitat extremely localized, it pushes in the neighborhoods of 450 meters altitude, on the Panie Mount, in a wet forest and under a subtropical climate.

Description

Lavoixia macrocarpa is a palm tree with the solitary feather-grass, of intermediate size, encircled rings laid out with regular intervals. It has globulous fruits and pennate sheets. It is a little known palm tree, being given its extreme scarcity.

Risk extinction

The extremely restricted habitat of the Lavoixia macrocarpa compromises its survival largely. The species is classified in critical danger of extinction (CR D) on the red Liste of the UICN
