Lavalin

Lavalin was a Québécois company working in the Civil engineering.

What the history retains of this firm, it is one blazing owner, Bernard Lamarre, which replaced his/her father-in-law in 1936 with the head of the small firm of then. Thanks to its political sense of smell, it knew to build a large firm of engineering in a few years by the means of acquisitions and fusions, inter alia.

It will obtain an important share of the contracts of engineering of the hydro-electric projects of the Baie James, which will enable him to obtain a sufficiently important reputation to carry out projects in the Tiers-monde.

Its finances being precarious during the Years 1980, it crumbled following a speculative operation on the resale of civil aircrafts. This collapse will lead it to amalgamate with SNC (Quebec) in 1991, the most reasonable solution at the time, thus forming the largest firm of engineering of the Canada: SNC-Lavalin.
