Lauwersoog

Lauwersoog is a village Dutch commune of Of the Marne in Groningue, founded after the closing of the Lauwerszee in 1969. Lauwersoog is primarily known like port starting of the ferry of Schiermonnikoog, visible island since the port. The village also contains the district of Robbenoort .

Lauwersoog is important a Fishing port with its clean Criée. Its code of maritime Quartier is LO . Part of the fishing fleet of Urk is based in Lauwersoog, even if the urkois continue to raise their own maritime district the U.K. Lauwersoog is also attended by the fishermen Danish. The village and its port attract many tourists.

The name of the village is not inevitably well chosen, because oog means island ( cf Schiermonnikoog and the common Frenchwoman of Oye-Beach). There however never was island at this place.

In the village and in the west are several lock S, the Robbengatsluis to let pass navigation and the Lauwerssluizen to make pass the water of the Bassin pouring Reitdiep.
