Lauro Severiano Müller (Itajaí, November 8th 1863 - Rio de Janeiro, July 30th 1926) was a diplomat and a politician Brésil IEN.
It occupied the station governor of the State of Santa Catarina, twice, between 1889 and 1891, then between 1902 and 1906. It was responsible for the passage of the statute of province to that of State. It was devoted, as a minister, like one of the major actors of the negotiation between Brazil and the Bolivia, which allowed the purchase of the territory of the Acre and its integration the Brazilian territory.
Course
Born in the State from Santa Catarina, he was the son of a German immigrant, Peter Müller, and the cousin of another future governor of the State, Filipe Schmidt, maternal side. Disciple of the positivist Benjamin Constant, it first of all embraces the military career in his native province.Graduate in Right of the University of Harvard, with the the United States, its studies confer a great prestige to him which helped it at the beginning of its career. It receives its first station in 1889, on behalf of the first president of the Brésil, Deodoro da Fonseca, which charges it with organizing the transition from Santa Catarina with the statute from province to that from State.
He will be then appointed federal, senator, member of the academy of letters and minister. He undertook great reforms in the field of the Industrie and the public Travaux, under the presidency of Rodrigues Alves.
Lauro Müller became popular for important work which he undertook in the capital, like the boring of the avenue central, now which occurred Rio Branco, and improvements that he brought to the port Rio de Janeiro.
