Laurent Sciarra

Laurent Sciarra , born the August 8th 1973 with Nice, is a basketball player French playing post of leader of play.

Frightening scorer in the team of young people of Nice at the station of back-winger, it realized that quickly being a little just physically that it was to be reconverted at the post of leader of play to be able to exist with the more high-level. It will become one of the best frontier runners in the world.

It is very known for its franc spoken, on and apart from the ground, it is not kind to handle the set language with the journalists what is increasingly rare in the professional sport. Its character made him only friends in the French tennis shoe, not hesitating to say what he thinks, which is not with the taste of certain players, trainers or presidents.

At the time of its first Parisian stay (1993-1997) it constituted with Yann Bonato and Stephan Risacher, an offensive three-pronged fork innarétable. Sciarra, like formidable launching pad for the counter-attack, the Parisian team developed a gravitational play.

In team of France, he was generally 3rd leader behind Antoine Rigaudeau and Moustapha Sonko, he thus played rather little but continued to level its fellow-members of its master keys. With the Olympic Game of Sidney in 2000, it changed dimension on the international plan. Sonko decreased by a wound and Rigaudeau supervised of very near by unfavourable defenses, Sciarra took the things in hand by showing that it had not lost the offensive talent of its youths, the team of France which did not hope for any more medals, terassa Canada of Steve Nash in quarterfinal, and beat easily Australia of Andrew Gaze, Shane Heal and Luc Longley however favorite because evolving/moving in residence… Finally the team of France found the United States, very awkward in first half, the team of France went back to the score by a sucession of shooting at 3 points, of which the last of Antoine Rigaudeau which brought back them to 4 points American… the team of France lost finally, but this match will remain in all the memories of the fans of French tennis shoe. Sciarra was the best marker of this final with 19 points, dominating the unfavourable leaders Gary Payton and Jason Kidd.

In 2003 it put a term at its international career, a course which will have seen it selected with 112 recoveries under the French shirt.
