Laurent Jean-Pierre Mbariko (January 19th 1925 - December 30th 1972) was a politician of current the Democratic republic of Congo. Native of the Kwilu in the area of the Bandundu, it played a big role in the process of independence of the nation.

Formed in the schools catholic missionaries of Kwilu as teacher, it joined Léopoldville, the capital, in the Années 1940. He affirms himself like one of the leaders of the movement of the scouts.

Its name is found among the Congolese leaders who subjected to the authorities Belgium documents on the aspiration of the Congolese people to independence.

He is elected senator in 1959, at the conclusion of the first legislative elections, on list PSA (Parti interdependent African) of Antoine Gizenga. Later, it joined the PNP (Left national the people). During a time, it is useful as vice-president of the senate.

It appears in the government Joseph Ileo of September 5th, 1960 as vice-minister (Secretary of State) to defense. When the government of national union is formed by Cyrille Adoula the August 2nd 1961, it is named vice-minister (Secretary of State) in the plan, common development, and international cooperation.

It was known for its strong personality, like its know-how in foreign politics. It represented Congo with the euro-African parliamentary conference of Strasbourg, in France (19 June 24th 1961).

In 1965, a Coup d'etat carries Mobutu to the capacity. Mbariko will refuse all the stations which will be offered to him in the name of the democracy. It was exiled in Kwilu where a disease carried it. Bambala of Kwilu remember him through a song entitled Mbariko (to pronounce Mbadigow ).
