Laurence Vail
Laurence Vail is a novelist, poet, painter and sculptor born in Paris the January 28th 1891 and died in Cannes (the Alpes-Maritimes) the April 16th 1968. It was called the “king of Montparnasse” or the “king of the Bohème”.
Wire of the American painter Eugene Lawrence Vail (1857 - 1934), it married in 1922 the collector Peggy Guggenheim (1898 - 1979), with which it had two children, Sindbad and Pegeen. After having divorced, it remaria in 1932 with the écrivaine Kay Boyle (1902 - 1992), with which he lived since 1929 and which gave him three other children.
