Launois-on-Vence

Launois-on-Vence is a common French, located in the department of the the Ardennes and the area Champagne-Ardenne.

Its inhabitants are called Launoisiens, Launoisiennes

Geography

Launois-on-Vence is in the east of the village of Faissault, and in the west of Pitch-Terron and Montigny-on-Vence. The close big cities are, by traversing the A34 (of which the exchanger is to 8 km), towards south-west, Rethel then Rheims and towards the North-East, Charleville-Mézières. Located at the center of the Peaks préardennaises, the village is surrounded by a landscape of low wooded and grassy hills.

History

The village was at the 17th century on an important axis between Antwerp and Dijon. The construction of its relay of station coincides with the foundation of Charleville by Charles de Gonzague. Launoy then constitutes an intermediary between this city and the main roads of exchanges.

Places and monuments

The principal monument of the village is a Relais of station with horses dating from the 17th century when diligences came to stop and to be restored. True cathedral of beams , the monument is the work of the companions of the Ardennes carpenters of the time. Still intact nowadays it accommodates: 60000 visitors per annum.

Economy

  • Of the Ardennes Company of Brewery , manufacture the bierre Ardwen . Tasting and small restoration. Visits organized on reservation.

The village accommodates second Sunday of each month an official market of Brocante the USSR, Antiquaire S and collectors.
