Launette

The Launette is a French river which runs in the departments of the Oise and of Seine-et-Marne. It is an affluent of the Nonette out of left bank, therefore a tributary of a tributary of the the Seine by the Little nun and the Oise.

Geography

It is born with Marchémoret in Seine-et-Marne. It moves towards north. One can fish in Launette with Montlognon. With the confluence, with Fountain-Chaalis, Launette is longer than the Nonette.

Hydrology

The flow of Launette was observed for one 15 years period (1993-2007), with Worm-on-Launette, locality of the department of Oise, located at a few six kilometers in the south of its confluence (ref.: ). The catchment area of the river is there of 41 km ², that is to say two thirds of its totality.

The interannual medium flow or module of the river with Worm-on-Launette is of 0,132 m ³ a second.

Launette presents seasonal fluctuations of flow moderate. The high waters are held in winter and are accompanied by average monthly flows going from 0,172 to 0,220 m ³ a second, from December to March included (maximum in January). As of April, the flow decreases gradually until the period of the low waters of summer, which are spread out over more than four months, of June mid-October, involving a fall of the monthly medium flow to the floor of 0,075 m ³ a second during September (75 liters a second), which is not really weak for such a small river.

With the low water level, the VCN3 can fall until 0,031 m ³, in the event of dry period quinquennial, that is to say 31 liters a second, which is not very severe yet (see note).

In addition the risings can be rather important, taking into account the exiguity of the catchment area. The QIX 2 and QIX 5 or calculated flows of biennial and quinquennial rising are worth respectively 1,8 and 2,7 m ³. The QIX 10 or calculated flow of decennial rising is worth 3,3 m ³ a second, while the QIX 20 is of 3,8 m ³. Finally the QIX 50 was not calculated fault of duration of sufficient observation to do it validly (see note). The maximum instantaneous flow recorded with Worm-on-Launette was of 3,27 m ³ a second on January 22nd, 1995, while the value maximum day laborer was of 2,56 m ³ a second on March 22nd, 2001. By comparing the first of these figures with the values of the various QIX of the river, it appears that this rising was of a decennial nature, and thus statistically intended to repeat on average the every approximately 10-12 years.

The Lame of water past in the basin of Launette is of 102 millimetres annually, which is extremely weak. It is of course definitely lower than the overall average of France, and lower also than the whole of the catchment area of the Seine (240 millimetres), as well as Oise (243 mm). The specific Débit (or Qsp) is assembled consequently at 3,2 liters a second and per square kilometer of basin.
