Launch Berkman

William Lance Berkman (born the February 10th 1976 with Waco (Texas)) is a Joueur of first goal and Joueur of field external of the major League of baseball, which currently plays at the Astros of Houston. It strikes ambidextrous and launches left-handed.

Career in major League

Berkman was a player of first goal during his career in minor Ligue but had to become player of external field because Jeff Bagwell had been the player of first goal during ten years. Berkman struck only 0,237 with 4 circuits in 34 matches at the time of its first season, but improved in 2000 much, with an average of 0,297. In 2001 it showed its talent, with an average of 0,331,34 circuits, 55 doubles and 126 points produced. It finished 5th at the time of the vote for the Meilleur player and first among the players of Astros. In 2002 he became player of field centers and produced still more than 100 points, with 42 circuits, 128 produced points and 106 marked points. 2006 was its most notorious season, because it produced 136 points, the record for a ambidextrous striker in the National league (Mark Teixeira holds the record of the major League with 144 points produced in 2005 like ambidextrous striker). In 2007 it has 90 produced points and an average of 0,280 with the September 9th, and has 22 matches to reach the stage of 100 produced points.

Eliminatory series

Berkman reached the eliminatory Séries three times since its beginning in 1999: in 2001, 2004 and 2005. It has an average of 0,321 with 6 circuits and 26 points produced in 29 matches, of which an average of 0,385 with 6 points produced in 4 matches at the time of the defeat of Astros in the World Series in 2005 against the White Sox of Chicago.
