Latrobe (Pennsylvania)

Latrobe is a city located in the county of Westmoreland, Pennsylvania, the United States, in the south-east of Pittsburgh. The population rose with: 8994 inhabitants at the time of the census of 2000, against: 9265 inhabitants in 1990. The city has a surface of 6  km ² (2,3  semi ²). History

The plans of the city were drawn in 1852 by Oliver Barnes, which gave to the locality the name of his/her best friend, the engineer of the railroads Benjamin Henry Latrobe Jr. In 1854, the community was built-in as a borough . It was built-in as a city only in 1999.

Latrobe is the birthplace of Fred Rogers and the golfor Arnold Palmer.

The football team American of the Pittsburgh Steelers involves itself in Latrobe. The first professional match of American football took place in the city, in 1896. The quaterback was paid 10  $.
