Latin jazz
The Latin jazz (English expression) is the name given to the music which combines Latin-American rates/rhythms (of African origin of good part) with harmonies of Jazz of the the United States. The term was invented by the trumpet player Jerry Gonzalez in the Sixties, that is to say well later that the birth of this music.
The two principal categories are Latin Brazilian jazz, and Latin jazz Cuban Negro.
- Latin Brazilian jazz includes the Bossa nova.
- the Jazz Cuban Negro includes the Salsa, the Merengue, the Its Cuban, the Songo, the Mambo, and the Cha-cha-cha.
jazz Cuban Negro
The May 30th 1943, Mario Bauza invents the jazz Cuban Negro, with the Park Palace Ballroom with New York. The day before, club Conga , the pianist Luis Varona played the intro of El Botellero , and it was joined by the bass player Julio Andino.

At the end of the Years 1940, jazzmen (Dizzy Gillespie, Stan Kenton, Charlie Parker, Cab Calloway) will play in latinos groups, and others will incorporate the rates/rhythms Cuban Negroes in their Musique S, thus will be born the “cubop”, cuban Bebop, called Latin-jazz later.

In the Years 1950, is born the “descarga” (literally, “to discharge”), a “ox” between musicians (a “jam” in the Terminologie of the jazz). Bebo Valdes then Chucho Valdés, Peruchin, Touched Guïnes, Israel “Cachao” López recorded of them several for the discs Decca, Panart and Gema.
