Latin Europe
Latin Europe (Italian/Portuguese/Spanish: Europa latina ; Rumanian: Europa latină ; French : Latin Europe ) is composed of the nations and areas in Europe or the populations speak a Romance Langue. It is generally about country Catholiques and Mediterranean (except for Romania and of Moldavie), which, under the terms of their Roman and Mediterranean heritage cultural characteristics distinct from the people of Germanic and Slavic Europe show. One speaks about civilization (S) Latin (S), Germanic (S) and Slavic (S) to indicate the three large cultural surfaces of Europe.
The cultures of the countries of Latin Europe are mainly forged by the heritage of the Roman Empire, from where the expression " latine". Latin Europe includes mainly the France, the Italy, the Portugal, the Romania and the Spain, as well as small countries and principalities; San Marino, the the Vatican, the Andorra, the Moldavie and Monaco. One can include also there the French-speaking areas of Belgium (Wallonia) and of Switzerland (French-speaking Switzerland), as well as the Tessin (italophone) in Switzerland. Many of these countries are members of the Latin Union.
From a geographical point of view, Latin Europe corresponds to the south-west of Europe, around western basin of the the Mediterranean ( Latin Arc ): including France, Italy, Portugal and Spain, and the areas latinophones of the adjoining countries. Romania and Moldavie, although being Latin languages are isolated from the other Latin countries of Western Europe, located in the middle of Slavic Europe of culture and orthodoxe. These two countries are not countries in direct contact with the Mediterranean world, and on many points, they show more common points with the other countries of the Balkans than with the Latin rest of Europe (orthodoxe religion, Byzantine heritage, etc)
The Latin America is an equivalent term which referred with the countries of néo-Latin language to the Americas. However, the cultures of the countries of Latin America present, because of their Amerindian and African components of the characteristics which make partially Latin countries of them (with the exeption of the Southern Cône).
