Lateritic Armor

The lateritic armor is a carapace formed by the hardening of a type of ground specific to the tropical areas.

The Latérite is a rock of red color rich in Fer in of Alumine. It recovers 20 million km ² in the tropical areas, mainly in Africa and South America.

This rather tender rock an average thickness of one measures hardens while drying. Forming a carapace, it becomes unfertile then.

By supporting the draining of the surface of the ground, the deforestation which is carried out drum beating in many tropical areas, contributes to accelerate the formation of this armor Latéritique and thus the sterility of the grounds.
