Lateralus is the third album of Tool, left in May 2001.
Lateralus , a progressive album , is the result of a legal conflict between the group and their label. In spite of its strange and complex contents for an uninitiated person, the album was a business success with the the United States. The album lasts 78 minutes and 58 seconds. According to an interview with Danny Carey, the label had promised only 79 minutes to them.
Two Clip S were carried out: " Schism" (at the beginning the clip has a short passage ambient, " Mantra") and " Parabol/Parabola". December 20th, 2005, they left into two DVD S individual S, presenting remixes by Lustmord. Starting from August 5th, 2003, Lateralus is certified double platinum by RIAA. August 23rd, 2005, Lateralus is republished in limited edition.
Before the exit of the album, there was, obviously, much rumors. Tool launched them in January 2001, when they announced the new title of the album, Systema Encephal , and a list of sibylline titles. One month later, they revealed the true title and a completely different list of titles, unfortunately for the media, of which some had agreed to promote the first version.
