Lassell (ring)
Lassell is a planetary Anneau located around Neptune. It bears the name of the astronomer William Lassell, discoverer of the satellite of Neptune Triton.
Characteristics
Lassell begins to 53.200 km from the center from Neptune (that is to say 2,148 times the ray of planet) like extension from the ring the Glassmaker, definitely more luminous. It extends then on 4.000 km.Lassell was discovered starting from the photographs taken by the probe Voyager 2 at the time of the overflight of the neptunian system in 1989. Its temporary designation was 1989 NR 4R, just like the ring Arago, the two objects not having been differentiated initially.
