Larry Silverstein
Larry A. Silverstein (born in 1932 with Brooklyn) is an American milliardiaire and investor in the Immobilier. The company which it directs names Silverstein Properties . This business man is also member of the steering committee of the Université of New York. Silverstein was the hirer out (leasing) of the offices of the World Trade Center which was destroyed at the time of the Attentats of September 11th, 2001. It currently takes part in the reconstruction project.
Beginnings
Larry Silverstein is graduate Université of New York since 1952. It Maria in 1956 with called a Klara with which he had three children ( LISA, Roger and Sharon ). It also followed a formation to the school of law of Brooklyn.Silverstein was implied in the real estate with his/her father Harry G. Silverstein and its brother-in-law Bernard Mendik by buying buildings with Manhattan. In 1957, they founded the company Silverstein Properties by buying their first building. Mendik and Silverstein continued the business after the death of the father of Larry in 1966. In 1977, Mendik divorced his wife Annette Mendik Silverstein what also exploded their partnership in the company. In 1980, Larry Silverstein gained the right of the harbor authorities of New York and the New Jersey to make the leasing and to develop the last free piece of a ground by building the 7 World Trade Center.

During the years 1990, New York suffered from the effects of the Krach of October 1987 what created an enormous availability of the offices in the buildings of the city. George Pataki became the governor of New York in 1995 thanks to its countryside based on the reduction in the expenditure which was based partly on the resale of the complex of buildings World Trade Center. The sale seeming too complicated, the harbor authorities of New York and the New Jersey decided to carry out a one 99 years duration leasing. In January 2001, Silverstein with the company Westfield America, made an offer of 3,2 billion dollars for the leasing of the World Trade Center. Vornado Realty helped of Boston Properties and Brookfield Properties overbid the offer of 50 million dollars. Later, Vornado was withdrawn and of Silverstein was accepted the July 24th 2001 offers it is seven weeks before the Attentats of September 11th, 2001. It was the first in its 31 years history which the complex changed direction.
Description of the contract in the press of the July 24th 2001:

"Silverstein Properties, Inc., and Westfield America, Inc. will make the leasing of the twin towers and other parts of the complex for roughly 3,2 billion dollars - the largest sale real estate the city and greatest privatization in the history the ville."
The agreement applies to WorldTrade center I, II, IV and V and with approximately 425.000 feet ² of surface of offices. Silverstein put that 14 million its pocket. It also gave itself the right to rebuild the structures of the buildings if those would be destroyed.
Other projects
In 1978, Silverstein had five buildings on the fifth avenue of New York, like the 44 Wall Street but also a shopping mall with Stamford (Connecticut). Moody' S should move its HQ with the 7 World Trade Center in 2007. The building with the 99 Church Street date of 1951 and lays out dune surfaces offices of 441.000 feet ². Bâtiement should be useful for offices but also for apartments although a jury had been favorable to the insurers the April 29th 2004.In October 2006, the American Court of Appeal returned its verdict which said that it was about a single accident. The Court of Appeal also raised the preceding decision of justice which gave reason to Silverstein. With final, Silverstein accepted nearly 5 billion dollars of compensation. It envisages to spend this sum in the construction of the news towers.
The leasing of Silverstein near the harbor authorities of New York and the New Jersey obliges it to refund 102 million dollars annually.
New the World Trade Center
Silverstein which is the current holder of the rights of rebuilding of the World Trade Center of New York, has just announced publicly the selection of the three architects among most famous (Norman Foster, Fumihiko Maki, and Jean Nouvel) conceiving three of the five towers resulting from the project of definition of the architect Daniel Libeskind initially retained at the conclusion of an international consultation. In 2006, it year that new the World Trade Center (Freedom Tower) would be rebuilt in 2012.Fumihiko Maki Pritzker 1993, and Sir Norman Foster Pritzker 1999 are characterized by a rigorous architecture, and for this last with true megastructures, as for the bridge Viaduc of Millau. Silverstein would currently keep the rights for turns II, III and IV. The Freedom Tower (or Turn n°1) and the tower V will be property of the harbor authorities of New York and the New Jersey.
