Etymology
Ladrinum (Roman origin)
History of the village/city
Its name, of Roman origin, Ladrinum, testifies to a historical last rich person related to his castle-extremely built at the 10th century on Roman ruins. All former people, Celts, Gallo-Romans, who pressed our ground recognized the importance of his establishment. Its incomparable sight, of the Bernese Alps at the height the Lock, the Mounts of the Jura in Mont Blanc on a ray of more than 100 km made a true strategic point of it. the Château of Larringes belonged successively to the Count d' Allinges, to the Counts de Savoie then with the families Lavanchy, Détraz, of Franlieu and finally of Stoutz, current owners. With the Middle Ages, the plague decimated the population strongly marked by the invasions of Burgondes, the Hungarians and Buckwheats.Among the monuments, Larringes has a church dedicated to Saint- Maurice, church rebuilt between 1814 and 1825.
Larringes has also a private vault belonging to the Milliet family. This vault was built in 1895 by a native priest of Larringes, François-Marie Milliet.
