Larivière
Larivière is a common French, located in the department of the Territoire of Belfort and the area Franche-Comté. It is administratively attached to the Canton of Fountain and belonged to the Communauté of communes of the Lime since its creation on December 30th 2000.
The village extends along the secondary road RD11 which connects Fontaine to Angeot. It is located at 2 km of Fountain and 13km of Belfort, the chief town of department. The average altitude of the village east of 360m and its territory covers 484ha. The river which it cross-piece is the Saint Nicolas's Day , which goes down from the massive of the Vosges, and which is undoubtedly at the origin of sound nom.
The name of the village east quoted for the first time in 1322. This one depended closely on Angeot, which was then an important town hall and the prévôté seat of one. In 1441 the village was already equipped with a vault depending on the parish on Saint-Cosme (Département of Haut-Rhin). It is only in 1741 that Larivière became parish to which Lagrange was attached in 1774. The current church, dedicated to Saint-Quirin , was built between 1758 and 1789. From 202 inhabitants in 1803, the population of the village passed to 190 to the census of 1999.
Larivière is also the birthplace of:
- Georges Emmanuel Beuret born in 1772. General and baron d' Empire deceased in 1828.
- Georges Beuret (1803-1859), brigadier general, killed in Montebello during the countryside of Italy.
