Large wheel

A large wheel is an alternative of very big size of the horse-gears of the type wheel.

Large wheels in the history

• a large wheel was built at the time of the World Fair of 1900 in Paris avenue of Suffren (current Swiss village), it had a diameter of 100 meters and was demolished in 1937 Photographs
• the Large Wheel of the Prater to Vienna, was built in 1897, is one of the symbols of the city
• the Roue of Paris was carried out for the celebration of the year 2000
• the Millennium Wheel was carried out for the festivities of the year 2000 with London

Evolutions

Certain recent versions make it possible to have mobile nacelles compared to the distance with the axis and thus to approach the center of the wheel during rotation without being confined with the only perimeter of the wheel (example Sun Wheel with Disney' S California Adventure).
