Large terminological dictionary

See also: GDT

The large dictionary terminological , also known under the Initials GDT , is a terminological dictionary of the Québécois Office of the French language containing more than 3 million terms French, English and Latin (Taxonomie and Médecine) in 200 spheres of activity. The GDT was formerly known under the name banks of terminology of Quebec ( BTQ ).

The GDT can be consulted without expenses on Internet. The GDT wants to be the most complete resource as regards the Traduction S of the technical terms of the English language. When the translation of a word differs in Quebec and in France, the two points of view are presented. For example, the " term; cerebrovascular (CVA) accident" is translated by " Accident cérébrovasculaire (ACV) " in Quebec and by " Cerebral vascular accident (AVC) " in France. These two translations are presented side by side, with a paragraph explaining the origin of the terms, their use and their conformity. The GDT thus makes it possible to the writers to adapt their writing to their target public, whether it is North-American or European.
