Large seventh

The Grosse Seventh is a play of Orgue pertaining to the family of the changes and more particularly to the subfamily of the large changes.

Etymology: seven , because it indicates the seventh degree of the diatonic scale. It is said large because she speaks one or two octave S lower than the seventh based on the 8 feet (and its pipes are thus two or four times larger).

Description

Flûtée change of 4 4/7 feet generally installed with the pedal, on instruments of rather important size. It corresponds to the seventh Harmonique of fundamental of 32 feet. Seldom only, it almost always cohabits with other large changes: Large Third 6 2/5, Large Nasard 10 2/3 and Large Fifth 5 1/3.
