Large Ribeira
Ribeira Grande is the second city in importance of the island of São Miguel in the archipelago of the the Azores, with close to: 5300 inhabitants. She was declared city on June 29th, 1981. She belongs to the council of the same name.

The surface of the council of Ribeira Grande is of 179,50 km ² for a population of: 28462 inhabitants (2001). It is subdivided in 16 villages. The geographical limits of the council are: in the east the council of Nordeste, in the south by Povoação, Villa Franca C Campo and Lagoa, in the west that of Bridged Delgada and in north the Atlantic Ocean.
