Large National Assembly of Turkey
The Grande National Assembly of Turkey ( Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi or Turkish TBMM in ) is the Parlement monocamerist of the Turkey and is thus the holder of the Legislative power.
The Parliament counts 550 members, each one for mandate a 5 years. The seats are distributed in proportion of the results obtained at the time of the election S, with the proportional one. To take part in the distribution, a party must obtain at least 10% of the voices at the national level.
History
The first National Assembly was built in 1923 by the Turkish architect Vedat Tek. It was in the beginning the building of the sole party CHP which was transformed to accommodate the assembly. The building became with the wire of increasingly small time and of enormous work of restoration were undertaken and led to the construction of a second National Assembly.She opened the October 18th 1924. It is in this second assembly that were carried out the great reforms of the Turkish republic between the years 1924 and 1960. It is in this assembly that the laws, the treaties and the most important reforms were taken by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. The deputies Turkish continued their work in this assembly during 36 years, of the October 18th 1924 with the May 27th 1960.
In 1961 the assembly moved in a new building and the old building was assigned with the Organization of the central treaty (CENTO). To the closing of the CENTO the two assemblies passed under the control of the ministry for the culture which transformed them a few years later into museum.
Today, the political system rests on the separation and the balance between the legislative powers, executive and legal. The Large National Assembly of Turkey holds the capacity législatif.
