Large Muveran
The Grand Muveran is a top Suisse which culminates with: 3051 meters and is on the border between the Canton of Vaud and the Valais. It belongs to the chain located in the the Bernese Alps and which extends from the Dents of Morcles to the massive of Diablerets. It is about the third plus high summit of the canton of Vaud after Diablerets and the Oldenhorn.
The Petit Muveran is a little more in the south and culminates with: 2810 meters. The two tops are easily recognizable since north, Large Muveran forming a broad and massive wall and Small Muveran resembling a small tooth. They are visible by far, of the Chablais to the area of Lausanne. Valaisan side, Large Muveran dominates the station of Ovronnaz and can be seen since the plain with the height of Riddes.
Large Muveran was the subject of a painting of the same name of Ferdinand Hodler going back to 1912 and sold for a little more than one million and half of Swiss francs in 2003:
