Large Marinha
Marinha Grande is a municipality (in Portuguese: concelho or município ) of the Portugal, located in the District of Leiria and the area Centers.
Geography
It is located in the national Forêt of Pinhal de Leiria, and near superb beaches: Praia da Vieira, Nazare and Sao Pedro de Moel. It is served by the train and the highway. It is at 75 minutes of Lisbon and 10 minutes of Leiria.Marinha Grande is bordering:
- in north and the east, of Leiria,
- in the south, of Alcobaça.
The municipality has moreover a maritime frontage, in the west, on the Atlantic Ocean.
History
The municipality, which had disappeared in 1838 by fastening from the freguesia from Marinha Grande to the concelho from Leiria, was initially high with the row of “city” in 1892, before being seen restored in 1917 autonomous as a concelho, grouping Marinha Grande and Vieira de Leiria..The March 11th 1988, Marinha Grande was high with the row of “city” and, the July 12th 2001, was seen reinforced freguesia of Moita, detached from the concelho close to Alcobaça.

The article of Portuguese Wikipédia does not specify if the census of 2001 took account of the enlarging of the operated municipality this year.
Economy
Marinha Grande is the Portuguese capital of the manufacture of Verre, and it is also the European capital of the industry of BTP (Construction industry), with 250 companies of the sector present.
