Large Dovecote (Saint-Pierre-and-Miquelon)

The Grand Dovecote is an small island of the archipelago of Saint-Pierre-and-Miquelon.
This escarpé and uninhabited small island, refuge of the marine birds, is located at the north of the island of Saint-Pierre to a few hundred meters vis-a-vis the point with Henry.
This island was described and named for the 1st time in 1544 by Jean Alfonse: " And of the jusques course of Ratz to the isles of sainct Pierre has quarente miles there. And if you want to go by the destroict of the Breton ones, will pass has bort of Coulombier, of some couste which you will vouldrez. This Dovecote is vng islet, and is dict Colombier because there are forces oyseaulx. "
During the Thirties, the Swiss geologist Edgar Aubert of the Street made many drillings there in order to determine the quality of the iron ore which is there. The results were not with the height of the hopes.
