Large Cayman

The island of Grand Cayman is one of the three islands of the British Territoire of overseas of the Cayman Islands. It is on this one that the capital George Town is.

Divided in districts; whose principal ones are West Bay, George Town, Bodden Town, East End and North Side. Each district has its characteristics, by example the district of West Bay shares the superb beach of Seven Mile Beach which starts towards the beginning of the district of West Bay to finish with orée of George Town.

The district of George Town is the political, financial and commercial center of these islands. George Town is especially the place where the tourists unload cruising ships. In spite of considerable damage at the time of the last Yvan hurricane, the small wearing of George Town is very sympathetic nerve and accessible as well as the airport.

The district of Bodden Town points out much the past with still some old typical houses of a long ago. Savannah and Bodden Town are the two villages of this district. The east coast much more natural and full with surprises, especially famous Blow Hole, where the sea is engulfed under the rocks creating a water jet of several meters height.

While continuing the road one arrives at East End. There still, the place is still rather wild but extremely sympatic. It is there that seems, a galleon would have run and much its passengers would have been saved by the inhabitants of these banks. The legend tells that there was a member of the royalty on board, and that following this act of bravery of people of the island, the king would have offered a freedom from tax for his inhabitants.

The district of North Side offers entered North Sound, a large lagoon bordered of the grounds and a barrier of coral. One finds in this lagoon, famous Stingray City where the rays were practically tamed like one of the most beautiful sites of diving a 2 meters depth… The return by East End makes it possible to cross Queen' S Highway which borders the sea in lunar landscapes.
