Large Causses
The Grands Causses is a formed French area of plates limestones culminating between 700 and 1200 meters. It is delimited:
- In north by the Aubrac
- In the east by the the Cevennes
- In the south by the plain of the Languedoc (Lodévois)
- In the west by the Lévézou, the Saint-African
Decomposition
The Large Causses are made of seven major causses:

the Causse Comtal (Aveyron)
- the Causse of Sévérac (Aveyron)
- the Causse of Sauveterre (Lozere)
- the Causse Méjean (Lozere)
- the Black Causse (Aveyron and Gard)
- the Red Causse (Aveyron)
- the causse or plate of Larzac (Aveyron and Herault)
and of a multitude of small peripheral causses (examples: causse of Mende, causse of Blandas, causse of Changefège, causse Bégon, etc)
