Large-fear and misery of Third Reich
Furcht und Elend of Dritten Reiches , in French Large-fear and misery of Third Reich , is a Play written by Bertolt Brecht between 1935 and 1938.
The twenty-four scenes which compose the part draw up a portrait of the German company since the advent of Hitler until the first steps of the war without however following a rigorous chronology. Brecht directly took as a starting point accounts of eyewitnesses and extracts by newspapers to compose this text which shows the major rooting of the Nazi regime in all the spheres of the German people.
One sees there in turn the middle-class, the medical community, justice, the children, the prisoners, etc to evolve/move vis-a-vis the mode.
The Informer is one of the twenty-four scenes which composes this part. She tells the history of a German couple which is persuaded that their child east left to denounce them in Gestapo because the father, although patriot, have just formulated some criticisms against the mode. This scene expresses the climate of suspicion extremely well, the policy of denouncement, the atmosphere of paranoia and endoctrination which reigned under III Reich.
