Large-Guillaume
Robert Guerin , known as the Fleur , more known under the name of Large-Guillaume , is one of the Acteur S French most famous of the 17th century. It would have been born towards 1554 and died in Paris in 1634.
Entered with the Hotel of Burgundy in 1598, it takes the direction of a troop there two years later and constitutes there his in 1612. Starting from 1622, he is the uncontested chief of the “actors of the King” and will remain it until its death.
According to Maupoint ( Library of the theaters , 1733), he would have been baker before becoming “joker”. It was, says it “ a franc yvrogne, large, fatty & corpulent, which paroissoit on the Theater only garotté of two belts, one below the navel, & the other close to the nipples, which mettoient it in such state that one had taken it for a barrel. It portoit not of mask; but couvroit the face of flour, ensorte that by stirring up the lips a little, it blanchissoit very of a blow those which parloient to him”.
Reached gravel, its grimaces of pain will belong to its play and will not prevent it from living 80 years. It will be buried with the parish Saint-Saver.
