Laredo (Texas)

Laredo is a city of the the United States in the State of the Texas which is at the edge of the Río Grande, at the border of the Mexico.

Established by some families of settlers Spanish in 1755, it remains strongly made up and influenced by the hispano-Mexican culture. It is the largest commercial port between the two countries and of this fact sees a great road traffic and railway crossing its main roads. The city is in strong growth, one sees there always more opportunities and trade to open there. It also profits from the opening and of the contribution of its university Texas has & Mr. International University (TAMIU). Its population is approximately 200.000 inhabitants and she proudly claims herself to be the only city which saw the government of seven different flags: France, Spain, Mexico, Republic of the Rio Grande, Texas, State of Confederated, the United States. Its downtown area is the old city, of which the central part is the Cathédrale of San Augustin, the saint of Laredo.

The climate is semi-arid, Laredo is in the Désert Chihuahua and the temperatures are often high (the estival temperatures go April in October), the winter is soft. Laredo has his/her twin sister on other side of the Rio Grande, therefore Mexican, called Nuevo Laredo, larger, but poorer and known for its problems of violence and traffic of Drogue S. Cependant, it is an good occasion to do a little shopping on other side of the border or with Laredo even, between the small stores of the downtown area or one of the greatest shopping malls of Texas of the South, the Evil del Norte.

The large closest metropolises: San Antonio in north and Monterrey in the south (Mexico); both are roughly at 3 hours each one of Laredo.
