Lap dance
What one calls Lap dance and which one usually translates by “dance-contact” is a particular form of erotic dance offered in some strip clubs (or Nightclubs) in which the customer sat and the dancer in contact with him, or in the vicinity.

Origin
The term and the reality which it indicates were born with the the United States. The pioneer is Melody Theater of New York which, during the years '70, had the idea of strip show with participation of the public at the same time on scene and out of the scene.
Framing
Since this type of Divertissement can lead to the Prostitution, a legislative framework was installed in the various countries where it found its place. With the the United States in fact the local authorities dictate the laws. (Currently, San Francisco is more liberal than New York for example.) With the Canada, a uniform law prevails. To justify freedom in this matter, one refers to a judgment of the Supreme court of Canada. It is about the Arrêt Furrier (1999).
Studies
In the various countries where it is practiced, the dance-contact was the object of study. In Great Britain, Julie Bindel made an exhaustive study. At Canada, Shirley Lacasse concluded from there that commercial logic prevails.
