Laogai Research Foundation

Laogai Research Foundation is based with Washington with the the United States. It was created by Harry Wu. Since 1992 “Laogai Research Foundation” (LRF, www.laogai.org) investigation into the crimes and the violations of the human rights made in these camps of Chinese work.

The director of the Foundation, Harry Wu, spent 19 years of his life in these camps, to have criticized the invasion of Hungary by the Soviet Union.

The Laogai is a system of concentration camps wanted by Mao Zedong using prisoners of the common and political rights like slaves. Laogai Research Foundation estimates that 4 to 6 million people would be imprisoned there, that more than 50 million Chinese prisoners passed in these camps since the arrival of Mao Zedong to the capacity in 1949 and that in 20 woman and man million died there (cold, summary hunger, disease, tiredness, executions, etc).
